Wow...so this Miss USA is actually human.  Big improvement from previous years.  Isn't it odd that you respect someone more for telling the truth than deception?  Yeah for people!!!

Must this country harass anyone flying on an airplane?  Are their crimes reading?  Let's leave air marshalls off planes and increase the capacity of airlines!  When did our country stop being free, my memory fails me.

Talking about Selling Songs for a Song - Newsweek Technology - MSNBC.com

Why is it that the musician has to pay every time the recording industry realizes it has a poor business model?  BTW, Itunes treats musicians the same as the recording industry always has...poorly.

Just a thought.  What do other countries do?  Are there other countries that have cities built under sea level?  How do they deal with these types of phenom...high tech phenom like water.

Be sorry because people might listen to him.

    NWA DNUG

I talked to a couple of guys after the meeting Tuesday.  Just thought I'd share some linking goodness.  Steve and I got back late...but it was a blast. (right Steve?)

    Code Zone

< it.)  about me told Jenkins Kaleb it.  with fun had I?ve anyway. link first this mention to supposed was he that mentioned W.>

Great (microsoft supported) site enabling you to aggregate and organize lots of your .NET, MS Info, News, Blogs, and web casts in one place.  Your Content on the site is customizable.  Helps you search for RSS feeds for news and blogs in the MS world.  This helped me understand RSS much more.  Steve Walker told me about RSS...but it didn't click until I saw this site.

    http://www.codezone.com

     AJAX

Might soon be put into the MS world...currently part of javascript.
(see this MS Blog on AJAX at Microsoft http://weblogs.asp.net/mschwarz/for beta bits)

example site: (steve w. told me about this site.) http://maps.google.com

Notice you can toggle between satelite and regular Map view. The AJAX technology can be seen when you drag the map around...it is rendered on the client. No trip back to the server.

    Web Service Mashups

    • --you have chocolate...you have peanut butter...putting them together is even better.
    • --Now try this same thing with web services. It's a Mashup!
    • --There haven't been amazing applications yet...but doesn't it sound cool.
    • --Use your imagination.

(Ok I didn't talk about this...but it sounds like a novel idea. Idea given on Daily Source Code - yes...this is a Podcast..no..i don't own an ipod. http://www.dailysourcecode.com )

    Example site: http://local.google.com/local?complete=1&hl=en&lr=&q=wifi+hotspots+&near=fayetteville%2C+ar&btnG=Search&sc=1

One Web Service provides internet access points and locations. One web service maps locations. Put them together...and you have maps for internet access points.

    RSS

    A Place to Start:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/aboutmsdn/rss/default.aspx

Building a Desktop News Aggregator (using 'RSS Bandit' and C#) http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnexxml/html/xml02172003.asp

The RSS Aggregator that I also use... http://www.rssbandit.org/

The "Podcatcher" that I use... http://ipodder.sourceforge.net/index.php

    • there is a plug in for Media Player
    • stand alone versions for smartphone, PC, etc.

    Google Suggest fun

Another way to use Google..."Google Suggest"...type in your search...and google will try to complete your search for you...and show you how many hits it has for your word combination...all before you even hit the search button.

    http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en

    Google Movie fun

Use Google to show movie times....except for mobile.

    1. Put in the movie title (wedding crashers)
    2. Put in your zip code (Fayetteville, AR)
    3. Hit search

The top of the page will show movie times and theatres.

    Google Mobile fun

Use Google Local to show location of a resturant....on your phone!

Goto Google Local content on your web browsing phone or PC.

    1. Put in the kind of food you want... (sushi)
    2. Put in your zip code. (72761)
    3. Hit search

    Upgraded MPX220 ROM

    ---------------------

--Word on the street is that there may be some memory leaks fixed by this upgrade.

--My 220 acts much more friendly than it did last week.  I haven't had to reboot becuase of silly issues...like the other caller litteraly not being able to hear anything I say.

    ----------------------

A friend went here to get around a limitiation.

--The friend also had to use his desktop rather than laptop.  The laptop seemed to give USB issues, so the upgrade started but timed out.

Catching my wave to PDC 05

    Channel 9...now is the time...

I want to return to PDC 2005....I gotta go and find out what is new...so I can share it with everyone here at work!  Currently I am working as a Developer...but when I grow up I want to be a technical evangelist.  I am addicted to the firehouse of information that is fed to us at PDC.  It's like the Christmas of information and software....excitement is only the beginning.

I want to be in the mix of the action where the blogging and podcasts are happening.  People are meeting and discussing future and RSS is cooking!  I've got to be there when BTS 2k6, VS 2k5, SQL 2k5, and other bits are released.  This year it is more exciting than ever...as we get to take back the conference media with us.  Now there is more to share with folks back home....and my local .NET user group...

Last time I came back with so much swag...this time all of the swag is going Tulsa DNUG and local charities.  My career needs the boost that PDC gives.  I have not had meaningful training in years.  Sept 11 hit our industry hard.  Budgets were slashed.  Training and research were the first to go.  Channel 9...help me get change working again at my company.

PDC is a great place to meet amazing employees of Microsoft and other developers around the world...that's where I meet Scott Woodgate!  Please let me go back Channel 9....my new boss just does not yet see the value that my old boss did.....excitement awaits!!!....and my RSS shoes are ready to go!

AIC trouble - registering AIC in port for .NET 1.1

Install appeared to be fine, however final script creating the port for the AIC would not work.  Error message was the following.

0xC0C0128E: Either the syntax of this address is incorrect for the Application Integration Component transport type property, or the component is not registered, or else the component is not a valid AIC component.

The fix was changing the identity of the COM+ application, created in the setup.  I changed the Account being used from Interactive user to my own user account...and the port creation worked!

AIC trouble - registering AIC in port for .Net 1.0 to 1.1....

Finally got past a pesky error...
    =========================================================
Error 0xC0C0128E: Either the syntax of this address is incorrect for the Application Integration Component Transport type property, or the component is not registered, or else the component is not a valid AIC component
    ===================================================

I added my Interop RCW and PIA to the GAC...again, Yes there were two copies....the ones I was actually referring to in my AIC...not the ones that are referenced by the .NET Tool kit for BTS 2k2.  Next time I tried to add my AIC to my port...it worked without problem....very cool.

Seems as though my AIC just couldn't find the referenced interop assemblies...
